The impact of the IT sector on the taxi market
More than 1 million passengers in Moscow travel by taxi every day. Such conclusions were reached in the Department of Transport of the capital.
According to the latest data, about 150,000 taxi cars are registered in Moscow alone. At the same time, 70% of orders fall on the services of aggregators: Yandex, Gett, Citymobil. This means that at least 700,000 people prefer trips that they can track and know the cost of before the car arrives. Automation of work and a convenient mobile application are the main differences due to which taxi aggregators overtook private taxi companies.
The impact of the IT sector on the taxi market
The statistics in the regions are approximately similar: the total number of officially issued taxi permits issued in recent years is approaching 500,000.
The taxi market continues to grow every year and covers not only direct taxi services and employees employed in them, but also enterprises supporting the ecosystem: car manufacturers and leasing companies, service centers, trade unions, software manufacturers. The share of the latter is constantly increasing, as taxi companies, following aggregators, are increasingly turning to automation and the purchase of specialized taxi software.
With the advent of software, private taxi companies and aggregators have been able to:
Carry out constant control over the movement of vehicles;
Engage drivers who do not have accurate knowledge of the area (built-in maps allow you to plot a route taking into account current changes in the city);
Continuously reduce the risk of fuel theft and vehicle theft;
Reducing the idle run of cars, saving on advertising and the maintenance of the control room – all this replaces a special application;
Significantly reduce the time of processing and receiving an order, as well as control its implementation online;
Work with a system of driver motivation, in which the most diligent and efficient get the most profitable orders;
Keep accurate statistics of orders, payments, mileage, fuel consumption and maintenance of each car;
Maintain vehicles in working condition and repair them in a timely manner.
That is why the trends of the taxi market are inclined to the fact that in the near future, neither in Moscow, nor in large cities of Russia, nor in the regions will there be private services operating on walkie-talkies and taking orders by phone.
Partial automation for the purpose of control is gradually being introduced already at the state level: platforms for collecting and recording information about each driver were already launched in Moscow in August 2021, and it will be much easier for services that have already connected the software to comply with state requirements when they are applicable not only in the capital.
